វាសនារីរបាំ(ភាគបញ្ចប់)

I just realized I never posted anything about the ending of one of my favorite dramas of the year, New Tales of the Gisaeng. While my obsession with it cooled down a lot after ep 40 or so, when Damo and Saran got married and were blissfully happy, despite needing to win his grinchy father's approval (because that really was not that crucial. Her finding her birth parents was more important but still, not that much as long as she had someone who'd love her for her and unconditionally and she had that with Damo), I ended up loving it from beginning to end. There were a couple of eps near the end which were wtf (ghosts? really?) but overall, it was such a lovely lovely ride. Damo and Saran are one of my all-time favorite OTPs - so functional together, so broken apart. And what NTOTG did, which a lot of dramas do not, is give us enough time and space to show them happy as well as the happy fates of all other characters we've grown to love.

I loved the whole childbirth thing - I love how sweet and proud and openly loving Damo is. I love how Saran is exhausted but happy and teasing. I love the doting grandpas. I love that they have a little girl (for once, a longed-for child is a girl, not a boy, bucking many a trope) and you just know they will be warm, loving parents, to make up for their own childhoods.

I loved the resolution of Ra Ra's storyline. Who'd have thought when the drama started that I'd love Ra Ra? I love that she ended up with Kyle because (a) she was always very outspoken and probably not suited for a traditional Korean daughter-in-law ideal as portrayed in the drama (b) she is loved for who she is and not for family money/status because Kyle's family is filthy rich - that also means he won't worry about how inheritance will change now due to Saran being found (c) I think a little distance will be good for her to rediscover herself and ditto for her adopted Mom.

I ended up loving Sooja's Dad and Stepmom. At the start, I thought they were gold-diggers but they ended up being kinda cool and with a fixable marriage.

And I loved the last scene, Baby Aria's first birthday. Just to see everyone happy made my heart grow twelve sizes :P

The proud parents:

The grandparents:

I ended up liking Gong Joo and Sooja together a lot.

And of course, we end with our amazing OTP. You guys made me happy and giddy for a sold half year. I will always love you.
